The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) has chosen 27 new members, one of whom is the Wageningen professor of toxicology, Professor Ivonne Rietjens. The new Academy members will be installed on Monday 13 September.

New Academy members are selected every year on the grounds of their scientific achievements. Members of the two hundred-year-old Academy are leading scientists, who work actively in various fields of scientific research. The toxicologist Professor Ivonne Rietjens (1958) is head of the Toxicology Group. She will join the Physics Section of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences.

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences is the forum, conscience and voice of Dutch science. It derives its authority from the fact that it selects members purely on the basis of quality. The Academy maintains an independent position, from which it safeguards the quality and interests of science, and advises the government. The head office of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences is the Trippenhuis in Amsterdam.
